Timmy is an adventurous Rainbow Trout who lives in the River Wharfe in the Yorkshire Dales. Not far from a village called Starbotton, which all the animals call Starbottom because it’s funnier.
In Timmy The Trout and the Legend of Hubberholme Bridge’ we find our hero in a state of utter boredom in the middle of the hottest summer anyone can remember.
Sure, he can hang around with bezzie mates 3B (the nickname of one ‘Billy Bob Brown’) and Meg (a hard-of-hearing collie who watches daytime telly). But for some reason that’s just not enough.
Ignoring the protesting 3B, Timmy decides the time has come to abandon his home stretch. Take a holiday - go see the world. However, when he makes it to Hubberholme, he hears about the legend of ‘Leaping Learoyd’. A local trout hero who, it is said, leapt clean over the bridge during a flood in 1929.
And in one moment of absolute madness, Timmy makes a decision which is to change his young life forever…
